The project started by Timo and Niina Leskelä asking to develop their brand further and reflect the quality of their products. The challenge was to create a minimalistic, timeless and warm experience that communicates the brand’s values.

Symbol was utilized as the basis of all designs. It embodies the brand's themes: an anonymous or unnamed person, placeholder, non-binary gender in passport or ID card, unknown quantity or variable and cross stitch.

In many contexts accustomed to seeing photographs or graphics, either the placeholder symbol or product codes were used. This reflects minimalism and the meaning of the name.

One of the main goals for the project was to increase the awareness of the brand internationally and communicate the quality of the products in a visual way. To achieve this, the custom built webstore was made. It's created on top of Shopify, and has a custom theme and components that supports Nomen Nescio's needs.

Website was developed in a way that it is easy to manage, update, and maintain. Reliable platform backend and custom-made content blocks were used. The hassle-free platform saves Nomen Nescio staff time to focus on serving customers, growing brand awareness and developing business operations without worrying about technical maintenance or reliability of the site.

The minimal look reflects the brands ethos. Focus was to bring the details easily to see for the user.

The project was featured in: Siteinspire,, Minimal Gallery, Klikkenthéke, Godly website and many others.

Project budget was under 20k€.

Areas where the service will be developed further is more advanced ways of showing the fine details of the products including use of video. Other part is creating more expressive elements and physical / digital installations.
